Strawberry Icecream

Love this recipe from my mother-in-law. We use it frequently for homemade ice cream with wonderful results. We usually use pureed strawberries, but the original recipe called for raspberries. Uses a 4 qt ice cream maker. This recipe has been our standard. I've used it at as vanilla base, just substitute out the lemon juice if not using a fruit base.


3 pkgs Strawberries, frozen
3 c Sugar
4 Tbsp lemon juice
1 c sour cream

Puree strawberries. Add sugar, lemon juice, and sour cream. Put in ice cream canister.

2 qt Half and Half

Add half and half to the fill line of ice cream canister. Process according to ice cream maker instructions.

We have found that using all half and half is better than using some milk. When it re-freezes it is less likely to be icy.
